After searching for her birth mother for years, Rose (Ann Skelly) finally tracks Ellen (Orla Brady) down in London and forces her to reveal a painful secret from her past. This shocking revelation rattles Rose’s already fragile sense of identity and draws her into a dangerous world of impersonation, deception, and revenge.

Simple-minded snake oil salesman Georgi (Danny Kaye) is too honest for his own good. After getting dismissed from a traveling medicine show, he wanders into a corrupt town where he gets mistaken for a prominent visiting dignitary.

An archaeologist and a weapon designer who have known each other in a previous life meet at an archaeological site in the Negev desert and speak about love and war. Other characters discuss conflicts in Athens, Berlin, Hong Kong, and São Paulo.

A character simply named “Old White Male” holds court in the lobbies of various apartment buildings in Buenos Aires and expounds with measured disgust on death, consciousness, and the state of contemporary human relations.

Jennifer is a "gifted" girl with the strange ability to communicate with insects, and Dr. McGregor (Donald Pleasence) enlists her to help find the killer.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, Tenebrae. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel.
