Taciturn and detached, Renos, a lonely professional waiter, is, above all, a creature of habit. Finding solace in his meticulous routine, and taking care of his specialised collection of indoor plants, Renos has somehow managed to keep the corrosive effects of the big city life at bay. Then, a gruesome finding in the silent, late-night Athenian streets disrupts the delicate balance of things in the orderly life of Renos, dragging him in a maelstrom of emotions and an unexpected series of events. Now, as a missing next-door neighbour, an eerily cordial stranger who goes by the name of "The Blond", and an equally cryptic brunette enter the picture, Renos must summon up the strength to deviate from his holy routine and re-evaluate his life. But, does the waiter have what it takes to sacrifice the safety of habit?

"The Greek weird wave meets The Postman Always Rings Twice in The Waiter, a minimalist, darkly deadpan neo-noir from debuting writer-director Steve Krikris. With scant dialogue and an offbeat brand of humor, the film follows a lonely Athens server caught up in a fatal love triangle that throws his well-ordered life into disarray. "

"Krikris' talent is exciting. If this film is anything to go by, we should be keeping an eye on his progress."

"This deliciously dark and sardonic Neo-noir sees a lonely waiter fall prey to a ménage à trois that throws a spanner into his ordered life in modern day Athens. Steve Krikis has already won a string of awards for his stylish Greek new wave debut, a crisply captured, elegantly framed affair that unfurls in an upmarket quartier of Greece’s capital."
